Revenue Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct month-end closing procedures, which include order validation, journal entry preparation, reconciliations, and rollforwards.

• Assess customer contracts and order forms to ensure proper ASC 606 revenue recognition treatment, highlighting performance obligations, non-standard terms, and billing structures that influence revenue recognition and allocation decisions.

• Manage contract modifications, amendments, credits, and revenue adjustments within NetSuite ARM.

• Work in tandem with FP&A on revenue forecasting and budget-to-actual analysis.

• Contribute to monthly management reporting and aid in ad-hoc revenue accounting projects.

• Assist in the setup, validation, and optimization of revenue arrangements within NetSuite ARM.

• Help administer and continually improve workflows related to ZoneBilling and ARM.

• Review and verify data accuracy across revenue systems to ensure completeness and integrity in revenue reporting.

• Identify opportunities for automation in revenue recognition, reconciliations, reporting, and contract review processes.

• Support the testing, implementation, and enhancement of revenue system improvements and automation projects.

• Utilize AI-driven tools, automation technologies, and modern workflow solutions to enhance operational efficiency and minimize manual processes.

• Collaborate across functions with Sales Operations, Deal Desk, Licensing, Billing, and FP&A teams to ensure operational alignment in contract execution, billing, and revenue recognition; resolve billing discrepancies, and enhance upstream data quality.

• Provide assistance with monthly billing and collections activities as necessary.

• Clearly and professionally communicate complex accounting and billing issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, while exhibiting a collaborative, team-oriented approach and a readiness to constructively challenge existing processes to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

• Facilitate external audit requests by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.

• Participate in process documentation and initiatives related to internal controls.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

• 2–4 years of experience in accounting or revenue accounting.

• Preferred experience in the SaaS, subscription software, cloud, or technology industries.

• Familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition principles is preferred, including knowledge of deferred revenue and contract asset accounting.

• Required experience with NetSuite ERP and NetSuite ARM.

• Preferred experience with Salesforce and/or ZoneBilling.

• Advanced Excel skills for complex financial analysis and reporting.

• Strong attention to detail, capable of analyzing large datasets and reconciling intricate transactional activities.

• Exhibit a growth mindset in developing and implementing essential financial analysis and reporting processes, including leveraging AI or other LLMs.
