This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Evaluate new and modified customer contracts to ascertain revenue recognition treatment in line with ASC 606, focusing on the identification of performance obligations, allocation of transaction prices, and timing for recognizing revenue.
• Prepare and record monthly journal entries associated with subscription revenue, professional services revenue, deferred revenue, and relevant balance sheet accounts.
• Oversee and balance the deferred revenue schedule, ensuring the precision of beginning balances, billings, recognized revenue, and ending balances.
• Conduct account reconciliations for revenue-related balance sheet items, including deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and accounts receivable.
• Investigate discrepancies in revenue-related accounts and offer explanations of actuals versus forecasts to management.
• Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process by providing accurate and timely revenue reports.
• Write technical accounting memos that document revenue treatment for non-standard or complex contractual agreements.
• Work together with Sales and Customer Success teams to comprehend contract structures, amendments, and renewals.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external audits concerning revenue recognition.
• Analyze subscription metrics such as ARR, MRR, churn, and net revenue retention to facilitate management reporting.
• Contribute to the development and documentation of revenue recognition policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Support enhancements to systems and processes related to billing, revenue recognition, and ERP workflows.
• Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned by the VP of Finance or Controller.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA designation is preferred or currently being pursued.
• A minimum of 2-4 years of accounting experience with direct exposure to revenue recognition under ASC 606; experience in SaaS or subscription-based businesses is highly desirable; public accounting experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards and US GAAP principles.
• Familiarity with SaaS revenue models, including subscription, usage-based, and professional services revenue streams.
• Proficient in ERP and billing systems; experience with NetSuite, Sage, or similar platforms is preferred.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including the use of pivot tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, and financial modeling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the capability to draft technical accounting memos.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment.
• Capacity to collaborate across functions with non-financial stakeholders.
• Experience in a private equity-backed environment is an advantage.
