Retail Crime Investigator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Investigate and address instances of external theft, including shoplifting and organized retail crime.

• Collect, analyze, and assess intelligence on individuals and groups involved in organized retail crime.

• Diligently document information to support successful prosecutions.

• Provide strategic guidance to store Asset Protection teams regarding investigative initiatives.

• Operate the store's CCTV system effectively.

• Conduct undercover surveillance operations.

• Act as a liaison between Weis Markets and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

• Refer cases to law enforcement for prosecution as necessary.

• Represent Weis Markets in court proceedings and mediations.

• Manage time and scheduling to fulfill company requirements, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight shifts.

• Travel to various locations within an assigned area to provide investigative support.

• Collaborate with Store Management and associates to safeguard company assets.

• Support stores during major business disruptions such as robberies, protests, and natural disasters.

• This role does not include direct supervision of associates.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Business, or a related field is preferred.

• One (1) year of experience in retail loss prevention within a retail store setting.

• Capability to satisfactorily perform each essential duty.

• Proficiency in managing time and scheduling effectively, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight shifts.

• Willingness to travel to various locations within an assigned area.

• Skill in operating store CCTV systems.

• Ability to conduct undercover surveillance.

• Competence in gathering, analyzing, and evaluating intelligence regarding individuals and groups involved in organized retail crime.

• Ability to document information to facilitate successful prosecutions.

• Professional representation of Weis Markets in court hearings and mediations is essential.
