Respiratory Therapist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), such as spirometry, lung volume assessments, and diffusion studies.

• Evaluate and monitor patients suffering from asthma, COPD, sleep apnea, and various other respiratory conditions.

• Assist with oxygen therapy evaluations and provide educational support.

• Instruct patients on the proper use of inhalers, oxygen, and respiratory care strategies.

• Oversee adherence to respiratory treatments and offer follow-up assistance.

• Create personalized respiratory care plans in partnership with the healthcare team.

• Collaborate closely with family physicians, specialists, and allied health professionals.

• Ensure accurate and timely documentation within the EMR system.

• Engage in case reviews and participate in quality improvement projects.

• Maintain and calibrate diagnostic equipment related to respiratory care.

• Assist with managing inventory for respiratory and sleep therapy supplies.

• Deliver direct respiratory care to patients in their residences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO).

• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.

• Experience in conducting pulmonary function tests is essential.

• Strong skills in patient education and communication are necessary.

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems is required.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Previous experience in outpatient or clinic-based respiratory care is preferred.

• Background in COPD, asthma education, and chronic disease management is preferred.

• Experience providing care to patients in their homes is preferred.
