This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Contribute to a positive and welcoming workplace while engaging in process enhancement activities such as After-Action surveys.

• Assume deployment roles as assigned based on training and experience.

• Collaborate with or supervise members of the Animal Rescue Team and volunteers during rescue, transport, and sheltering operations.

• Work in conjunction with Animal Care and Field Response management to execute operational strategies.

• Provide precise information for situation reports, daily care or medical records, animal census data, and legal compliance documentation.

• Maintain equipment and vehicles used for animal care.

• Engage in the planning of response activities.

• Execute additional assigned duties and responsibilities.

• Respond to large-scale animal cruelty incidents or disaster rescues in both field and sheltering roles as required.

• Complete at least one rotation at the Maryland Care and Rehabilitation Center to become eligible for field response.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• A minimum of three years of experience in species-specific animal handling, veterinary technology or assistance, force-free animal training, grooming, shelter animal care, disaster response, fire/EMT, law enforcement, humane law enforcement or cruelty investigations, animal care and control, or a related field.

• Capability to handle animals safely and humanely, along with knowledge of husbandry and care practices for relevant species.

• Candidates located within a one-hour drive of Nashville, Tennessee, or western Maryland are highly preferred.

• Experience with distressed animals is a must.

• Willingness to travel occasionally, sometimes with short notice, for 5+ days at a time, at least once annually when opportunities arise.

• Flexibility to work on holidays and outside standard business hours when necessary.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Proficiency in PC use, including word processing and Internet navigation.

• Capability to work autonomously or collaboratively in a team, demonstrate initiative, and maintain communication with staff and responders.

• Completion of FEMA courses IS-100 and IS-200 is required.

• Experience in emergency operations or response is preferred.

• Familiarity with Chameleon animal sheltering software is preferred.

• Completion of Low Stress Handling or Fear Free Shelters training is strongly preferred.

• Relevant certificates and completion training documents must be submitted with the application.

• Ability to deploy to any location within the United States as necessary.
