Researcher – Paper and Pulp, Latin America

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Lead research and data development initiatives for the pulp, paper, and paper-converting sectors within designated Latin American markets.

• Research and monitor pulp and paper mills, converting facilities, manufacturers, expansion projects, closures, ownership shifts, and other industry advancements.

• Keep abreast of industry news, regulatory changes, company announcements, financial reports, and market activities to pinpoint significant alterations.

• Gather, validate, input, and uphold comprehensive mill-level and project-level data in ResourceWise databases.

• Ensure that technical, operational, production, capacity, ownership, and project information is thorough, accurate, consistent, and substantiated by credible sources.

• Build and sustain relationships with producers, suppliers, industry associations, government entities, and other market stakeholders to enhance regional market intelligence.

• Analyze intricate industry and asset data, converting findings into structured reports, presentations, database updates, and clear data visualizations.

• Assist in consulting projects and tailored market studies by collecting information, performing analysis, and contributing to client-ready outputs.

• Collaborate with internal research, consulting, product, and sales teams to address client inquiries and pinpoint market opportunities.

• Provide subject matter expertise during interactions with current and potential clients.

• Work alongside global research teams to standardize research methodologies, terminology, data standards, and quality control processes.

• Maintain a high standard of organization, attention to detail, and follow-through while juggling multiple priorities and deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in forestry, pulp and paper technology, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, economics, business, resource management, or a related discipline.

• Five to ten years of experience within the pulp, paper, paper-converting, forestry, wood-products, or related industrial sectors.

• Practical knowledge of pulp and paper manufacturing, mill operations, production processes, grades, raw materials, capacities, and regional market dynamics.

• Experience in research, market intelligence, consulting, data collection, business analysis, or a comparable analytical role.

• Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, with the capacity to assess information from various sources and pinpoint inconsistencies or data gaps.

• Excellent project management, time management, and organizational skills.

• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including the capability to engage confidently with industry participants and clients.

• Proficiency in Spanish and strong professional communication skills in English are mandatory.

• Knowledge of Portuguese and familiarity with the Brazilian pulp and paper industry are highly advantageous.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
