This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.
• Conducting thorough background investigations on individuals, organizations, and their networks, with an emphasis on Ukraine.
• Analyzing corporate, legal, property, and financial documents.
• Composing detailed reports on research findings to be distributed to journalists.
• Promptly addressing research inquiries from journalists within the OCCRP network.
• Collaborating with investigative teams to offer research assistance on long-term inquiries, including proactively suggesting innovative research strategies.
• Working closely with fellow research team members to tackle complex research questions.
• Discovering methods to gather information from new sources, particularly in Ukraine and Russia.
• Occasionally training investigative journalists in the region on research methodologies and utilizing local databases.
• Knowledge of, and capability to access, public records in Ukraine and Russia.
• Proficiency in English and Ukrainian, both written and spoken.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse countries, languages, and backgrounds, both online and in person.
• Skill in articulating ideas clearly and succinctly.
• Tenacity and inquisitiveness — you should be someone who delights in searching for needles in a haystack.
• Meticulousness and a keen eye for detail.
• Capacity to work autonomously while seeking assistance when necessary.
• Proficient in computer usage, particularly with Word, Excel, and Google Docs.
