📋 Description

• In the role of Research Scientist II within the Fraud Research team, you will contribute to enhancing Pindrop's capabilities in detecting, scoring, and investigating fraud and scams across voice and IVR interactions.

• You will engage in applied machine learning challenges that have a direct impact on fraud and scam prevention for prominent enterprise clients, balancing core model development with real-world analysis and investigation.

• Develop and refine fraud risk models and scoring systems using a mix of audio, behavioral, and metadata-driven signals.

• Examine fraud patterns within customer environments and convert your findings into quantifiable enhancements in model performance, investigation processes, or mitigation strategies.

• Conduct research and establish a scam detection framework, from initial concept to execution.

• Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to transition successful research into production and enhance fraud outcomes in live settings.

• Assist in high-priority fraud investigations by evaluating system behavior, fraudster attack patterns, and detection shortcomings, while recommending actionable next steps for our clients.

• Elevate the quality and accuracy of fraud-related identity signals, including voice-based indicators and repeat-offender detection.

• Create and uphold reproducible research workflows, internal tools, and evaluation pipelines that support the team in efficient experimentation and clear impact measurement.

• Participate in technical reviews, knowledge dissemination, and research documentation that aids the broader organization in understanding and utilizing your work.

• Engage in related innovation areas, such as emerging AI-assisted fraud-analysis workflows, as they align with team priorities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced Degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent applied research experience.

• Over 3 years of professional experience in machine learning, large-language models, fraud detection, natural language processing, risk modeling, speech or signal processing, anomaly detection, or a closely associated field.

• Proficient in Python and experienced in developing research tools, experimentation frameworks, or model evaluation processes.

• Practical experience with contemporary machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras.

• Proven ability to translate research outcomes into practical enhancements, whether in models, decision systems, or production-oriented recommendations.

• Fundamental knowledge of fraud, identity, consumer scams, authentication, risk scoring, or concepts related to customer security.
