Research Scholar – Senior Research Scholar, Education

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Oversee or jointly oversee business development initiatives related to education research and evaluation.

• Assume senior positions on awarded projects.

• Offer extensive educational expertise to enhance research design and methodology, project management, product development, and engagement with funders and partners.

• Establish and nurture strong connections with federal, state, and philanthropic funders, research collaborators, educational agencies at both state and local levels, and leaders within the education sector.

• Guide and mentor staff involved in education-related projects and proposals.

• Assist in identifying and pursuing new opportunities that align with Child Trends’ mission and educational strategy.

• Contribute to thought leadership through various activities including presentations, publications, briefs, and other dissemination efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• In-depth expertise in education research and evaluation.

• Minimum of 8 years of pertinent experience in applied research, evaluation, and program leadership.

• Proven success in leading competitive funding opportunities in education research and evaluation.

• Solid history of contributing to competitive proposals through technical writing, capture strategy, partnership development, or similar activities.

• Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Public Policy, Economics, Sociology), or an equivalent combination of education and significant senior-level experience.

• Specialized knowledge in one or more areas such as school readiness, language and literacy, postsecondary success, AI in education, and the educator workforce.

• Exceptional writing, presentation, and collaboration abilities.
