Research Intern – Middle East and North Africa

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Middle East.

📋 Description

• Assist in programming efforts across the Middle East and North Africa region through comprehensive research.

• Gather secondary research regarding modern slavery in the Middle East and North Africa, concentrating on prevalence, challenges, gaps, and opportunities to enhance regional responses.

• Develop databases to store secondary data, ensuring the data collected is clean and well-organized.

• Analyze secondary data to extract relevant themes and propose key recommendations and insights.

• Create tools for the organization and visualization of research results.

• Draft literature reviews, concept notes, blog entries, or other outputs.

• Present research outcomes to the Research Program Coordinator and the MENA Regional Manager.

• Engage in brainstorming sessions with team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an accredited college or university as a degree-seeking student.

• Should have a proven track record of academic excellence and be pursuing, or have obtained, a degree in fields such as law, public policy, international relations or affairs, international development, human rights, or another relevant discipline.

• Must be fluent in both written and spoken English and Arabic.

• Should have a demonstrated interest and/or involvement in the anti-slavery or human rights movements.

• Must be familiar with and possess prior experience in research methodologies, particularly in collecting, analyzing, and consolidating secondary data.

• Should possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in word processing using Microsoft Word.

• Must be well-organized, self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.

• Successful candidates will show a history of accepting guidance, taking initiative, and collaborating effectively with supervisors and peers.

• Must demonstrate the ability to engage cross-culturally and work collaboratively with global staff at a professional level.
