This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Assist in the development and assessment of teacher-focused adaptive goal-setting tools for educational technology.
• Execute UX research activities, which include co-design sessions, interviews with teachers, and evaluating prototypes.
• Prepare research protocols, consent documents, interview frameworks, and other essential project outputs.
• Create preliminary design probes, low-fidelity prototypes, and interactive prototypes for adaptive goal policies, teacher workflows, visualizations of student progress, and reward systems.
• Aid in the preparation of IRB documentation and study materials.
• Contribute to the analysis of data gathered from teacher interviews and co-design sessions.
• Formulate design recommendations and implementation strategies.
• Assist in the sharing of research outcomes.
• Organize and oversee IRB documentation, including protocol drafts and consent form templates.
• Facilitate research execution and on-site data gathering at partner schools and associated organizations.
• Collaborate with the Vanderbilt LAPS Lab research team and external collaborators.
• Report directly and functionally to Professor Conrad Borchers.
• Operate independently without supervisory responsibilities.
• A Bachelor's degree.
• Background in UX design, UX research, or Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
• A Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction is preferred.
• Experience with educational technology is preferred.
• Familiarity with co-design methodologies is preferred.
• Knowledge of prototype development using tools like Figma is preferred.
• Must be able to complete pre-employment background checks.
• Willingness to travel domestically approximately 10% during the temporary assignment.
