Research and Writing Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Conduct research on New Mexico laws related to liability, damages, coverage, and procedural matters in personal injury and premises liability cases.

• Track and summarize updates in New Mexico case law, statutes, and court regulations.

• Draft motions, responses, briefs, and legal memoranda for pre-litigation and litigation teams.

• Create legal analyses related to discovery and assist with pleadings as necessary.

• Work alongside trial attorneys and Team Leads to pinpoint legal issues, foresee defense arguments, and fortify case positions.

• Provide research assistance for settlement discussions, mediation, and trial preparation.

• Produce timely and well-supported written work that meets the firm's quality standards.

• Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure smooth progress of cases through the process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A valid license to practice law in New Mexico, or eligibility for admission.

• Exceptional legal research, analytical, and writing abilities.

• Proficiency in transforming research into compelling, well-supported written materials.

• Experience in drafting motions, briefs, memoranda, and various litigation documents.

• Preferred background in personal injury or civil litigation.

• Insurance defense or appellate experience is advantageous.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with trial attorneys and Team Leads across different case teams.

• Strong skills in managing competing deadlines.
