Research and Writing Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Conduct research on New Mexico laws regarding liability, damages, coverage, and procedural matters pertaining to personal injury and premises liability cases.

• Track and summarize updates in New Mexico case law, statutes, and court regulations.

• Prepare motions, responses, briefs, and legal memoranda for both pre-litigation and litigation teams.

• Draft legal analyses related to discovery and assist with pleadings.

• Work alongside trial attorneys and Team Leads to identify legal issues, foresee defense arguments, and enhance case positions.

• Provide research assistance for settlement negotiations, mediation, and trial preparation.

• Produce timely, well-supported written work that adheres to the firm’s quality standards.

• Collaborate with attorneys and staff to facilitate the efficient progression of cases through the process.

• Offer legal analysis and drafting that bolster trial attorneys’ advocacy efforts and maximize recovery for clients who have been injured.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must hold an active license to practice law in New Mexico or be eligible for admission.

• Strong skills in legal research, analysis, and writing.

• Capability to convert research into convincing, well-supported drafts.

• Experience in drafting motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation-related documents.

• Preferred experience in personal injury or civil litigation.

• Background in insurance defense or appellate practice is advantageous.

• Ability to collaborate with trial attorneys and Team Leads across various case teams.

• Skill in managing multiple competing deadlines.
