Research and Writing Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Conduct research on New Mexico laws regarding liability, damages, coverage, and procedural matters related to personal injury and premises liability.

• Keep track of and summarize updates in New Mexico case law, statutes, and court regulations.

• Draft motions, responses, briefs, and legal memoranda for both pre-litigation and litigation teams.

• Create legal analyses related to discovery and assist with the preparation of pleadings.

• Work alongside trial attorneys and Team Leads to pinpoint legal issues, foresee defense strategies, and enhance the strength of case positions.

• Offer research assistance for settlement discussions, mediation, and trial preparations.

• Produce timely and well-supported written materials that adhere to the firm’s quality standards.

• Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure a smooth progression of cases through the legal process.

⛳️ Requirements

• Current license to practice law in New Mexico, or eligibility for admission.

• Strong skills in legal research, analysis, and writing.

• Capability to convert research findings into compelling and well-supported written drafts.

• Experience in drafting motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation-related documents.

• Preference for candidates with personal injury or civil litigation experience.

• Background in insurance defense or appellate law is advantageous.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with trial attorneys and Team Leads across various case teams.

• Capacity to manage multiple deadlines efficiently.

• Court appearances are not required.
