Research and Writing Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Conduct research on New Mexico laws pertaining to liability, damages, coverage, and procedural matters in personal injury and premises liability cases.

• Keep track of and summarize changes in New Mexico case law, statutes, and court regulations.

• Draft motions, responses, briefs, and legal memoranda for both pre-litigation and litigation teams.

• Create legal analyses related to discovery and assist in drafting pleadings.

• Work in collaboration with trial attorneys and Team Leads to pinpoint legal issues and foresee defense arguments.

• Enhance case positions through comprehensive legal research and analysis.

• Offer research support for settlement discussions, mediation, and trial preparations.

• Produce timely and well-supported written outputs that adhere to the firm's quality standards.

• Collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff to facilitate the efficient progression of cases through the process.

⛳️ Requirements

• An active license to practice law in New Mexico or eligibility for admission.

• Exceptional legal research, analytical, and writing capabilities.

• Proficient in converting research findings into convincing and well-supported drafts.

• Experience in drafting motions, briefs, memoranda, and various litigation documents.

• Preferred experience in personal injury or civil litigation.

• A background in insurance defense or appellate law is advantageous.

• Ability to collaborate with trial attorneys and Team Leads across different case teams.

• Competence in managing multiple deadlines effectively.
