This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Contributing to the creation and output of research and data tools that promote the Company's strategic objectives and mission.
• Providing research guidance and assistance to internal team members, grantees, and external stakeholders.
• Actively participating in the Company’s research agenda to enhance empirical knowledge regarding law school access, affordability, academic and bar success, and the value of legal education.
• Aiding in the management and upkeep of the Center's research and data tools, such as Analytix and XploreJD.
• Organizing, structuring, and cleaning data to enable its use for conducting research and policy analysis.
• Carrying out basic statistical analyses using both internal and external data; supporting the creation of visually appealing and easily interpretable tables and graphical representations of statistical findings.
• Advising and assisting colleagues, grantees, external researchers, and consultants with research design, data analysis, data interpretation, as well as identifying and navigating higher education data resources.
• Contributing to the Company’s initiatives to convey findings to policy and practitioner audiences through concise briefs, white papers, and reports.
• Presenting at professional conferences; representing the Center at relevant industry gatherings and events.
• Assisting in the creation and maintenance of a repository of research evidence and data that can support the Company’s research goals.
• Bachelor’s degree in pre-law, statistics, economics, sociology, political science, or a related field AND a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar position; OR a Master’s degree in education, economics, political science, public policy, sociology, statistics, or a related field.
• A strong passion for promoting access, affordability, and value in legal education.
• Ability to self-organize—managing and setting deadlines independently to balance multiple deliverables and ensure their timely completion.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; adept at anticipating and addressing challenges.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities.
• Knowledge (gained through experience or coursework) of evaluation methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the creation of pivot tables and the use of standard data management functions.
• Prior experience in performing quantitative analyses using R Studio, STATA, or another statistical software.
• Experience in writing and presenting research reports.
• PREFERRED: Skills in public speaking and presentations.
• Familiarity with higher education or legal education data sources, data definitions, and limitations.
• Understanding of higher education and student financial aid policy, particularly for graduate and professional students.
• Experience in translating statistical terminology and methodologies for general audiences.
• Experience using R Studio.
• Experience with PowerBI, Tableau, or other data visualization software programs.
