Reliability Engineer, Truck Service

📋 Description

• The Reliability Engineer for Truck Service is responsible for ensuring the dependability, availability, and optimal performance of TA’s fleet and service equipment.

• This position employs reliability engineering principles to proactively identify risks, minimize unplanned downtime, and promote operational excellence.

• Design and implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategies aimed at enhancing uptime and asset lifecycle performance.

• Oversee Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to pinpoint failure modes and execute corrective and preventive measures.

• Ensure adherence to OMS standards, TS SOPs, and corporate safety protocols throughout reliability initiatives.

• Integrate TA’s and BP’s Believe in Zero safety philosophy into daily operations, emphasizing risk reduction and barrier effectiveness.

• Establish and track reliability metrics, KPIs, and dashboards across Truck Service operations.

• Employ statistical methods and predictive analytics to forecast failures and assess reliability trends.

• Collaborate with Technical Training to enhance maintenance quality and technician expertise.

• Examine unscheduled maintenance trends and warranty claims to uncover cost-saving prospects for fleet customers.

• Lead initiatives that introduce new technologies, processes, or tools to improve reliability and decrease downtime.

• Evaluate the regulatory impacts and design modifications on Class 8 engines, trailers, and service equipment to ensure readiness for the future.

• Work with Procurement and Vendor Management to integrate reliability criteria into vendor performance evaluations and asset selection.

• Prepare and sustain reliability reports, analyses, standard operating procedures, and guidelines.

• Offer technical training, coaching, and support on best practices in reliability.

• Remain updated with industry trends, regulatory updates, and methodologies (RCM, FMEA, RCA) to guarantee top-tier practices.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field), or equivalent experience.

• Experience in reliability engineering, fleet maintenance, or a related domain (transportation/logistics preferred).

• Familiarity with reliability methodologies (FMEA, RCM, RCA).

• Proficient in data analysis/visualization tools and advanced Excel; experience with EAM/CMMS is preferred.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities; capable of influencing cross-functional teams.

• Professional certification (e.g., CRE, CMRP) is desirable.

• Experience with predictive technologies (vibration, thermography, oil analysis) and reliability statistics.

• Practical exposure to Class 8 powertrain, trailer systems, and service equipment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.

• Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as necessary to support field operations.

• Strong organizational abilities, self-motivation, and capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
