Regulatory Law Expert

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop evaluation tasks for AI systems functioning within regulatory compliance and government affairs sectors.

• Create scenarios that encompass the design of regulatory compliance programs, agency investigations and enforcement actions, as well as rulemaking or comment processes.

• Construct tasks related to financial services, healthcare and FDA, antitrust and competition, data privacy and cybersecurity, as well as environmental and energy regulation.

• Design scenarios that involve regulatory tracking platforms, compliance management systems, and agency filing systems.

• Utilize methodologies for regulatory interpretation, compliance risk assessment, and enforcement response strategies.

• Generate reference compliance memoranda, regulatory filings, and documents for enforcement responses.

• Write rubrics that differentiate between authentic regulatory judgment and generic recall typically found in law school or bar exams.

• Collaborate with top researchers on initiatives aimed at training and improving AI systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a regulatory attorney or compliance counsel.

• Background at a prominent law firm, regulated company, or government agency.

• Direct accountability for regulatory compliance programs, interactions with agencies, or enforcement issues.

• Proficiency in regulatory tools.

• Knowledge of administrative processes and agency rulemaking.

• In-depth understanding of US regulatory frameworks, including the Administrative Procedure Act and rules specific to agencies like the SEC, FDA, and FTC, as well as international EU and UK regulatory frameworks.

• A recognized professional credential is highly preferred, such as a JD with bar admission or its international equivalent.

• Previous experience in authoring rubrics, training, or compliance documentation is advantageous.

• Candidates must not require H1-B or STEM OPT sponsorship; Mercor cannot support H1-B or STEM OPT applicants.

• Ability to work independently as a contractor is essential.
