This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Conducts risk assessments and provides guidance on all facets of compliance with state and federal healthcare operations and regulations, including laws related to fraud, waste, and abuse at both federal and state levels.
• Supports business development and operations teams, along with MLH affiliates, in identifying and addressing regulatory issues.
• Keeps track of changes in relevant regulatory areas and educates business and operational staff, as well as compliance and legal affairs teams, about these updates.
• Analyzes and interprets modifications and trends in governmental and legislative policies at the federal, state, or local level.
• Assesses the impact on the organization and advises senior management accordingly.
• Suggests and implements specific corporate responses to alterations in governmental and legislative policies.
• Conducts comprehensive research and investigations, and creates, drafts, and submits documents related to legal issues to ensure compliance with various regulations, providing legal interpretation of applicable laws.
• Prepares and reviews legal documents, as well as evaluates proposed transactions to maximize benefits to the corporation while minimizing risk exposure.
• Offers legal counsel and support, including policy development and management assistance, on compliance and regulatory matters.
• Provides regulatory guidance and assistance regarding contracts and transactions in which MLH may be involved.
• Collaborates and assists fellow colleagues in Legal services in a highly cooperative and team-oriented manner.
• Required - Juris Doctorate
• Required - 5-7 years of experience as Regulatory Counsel
• Required - Attorney licensed by the Board of Professional Responsibility
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of federal and state laws and regulations impacting healthcare organizations and physician practices.
• Capability to comprehend and draft complex written materials such as significant contracts, business plans, and policies and procedures.
• Ability to lead and inspire individuals and teams towards achieving work and organizational objectives.
• Advanced skills in negotiation and conflict resolution among individuals and groups, including associates, management, and physicians.
• Proficiency in planning and scheduling tasks and projects while managing both personal and team workflow.
• Expertise in developing and executing long-term plans and programs.
• Ability to operate independently without close supervision or professional guidance, exercising independent judgment.
