This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.
• Assist countries in the LATAM region during and following tax inspections, which includes providing documents, reviewing responses, handling appeals, participating in court cases, and conducting meetings and negotiations with authorities.
• Facilitate local tax compliance efforts, encompassing transfer pricing documentation and reviews of withholding tax.
• Execute quarterly evaluations of tax reporting (Form 18), which involves analyzing deferred tax, adjustments from prior years, tax losses, the effective versus statutory tax rates, and tax risks.
• Oversee local tax risks and provisions within consolidated group financial statements.
• Offer guidance on tax and administrative concerns, cross-border issues, permanent establishment, VAT registrations, tax residence certificates, treaty applications, exemptions, and indirect taxation.
• Provide counsel regarding tax rulings, Advanced Pricing Agreements, tax due diligence, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, tax clauses, and tax indemnities.
• Discover tax planning and incentive opportunities while supplying tax news, advice, and training.
• Analyze cross-border contracts and transactions, providing advice on tax clauses, delivery terms, invoicing, VAT, withholding tax, and implications related to permanent establishment.
• Create alternative tax structures and assist in client conference calls.
• Lead legal-entity reorganizations, valuations, tax rulings, reviews of legal documents, investment transfers, entity optimization, financing, and the setup or liquidation of entities within LATAM.
• Assess tax-saving opportunities, tax credits, tax exemptions, tax rates, and tax audit risks in collaboration with local Finance.
• Aid in Form 18 quarterly reporting, deferred tax analysis, valuation allowances, forecasts for loss-making entities, and HFM Form 18 tax calculations.
• Support acquisitions and divestitures, adjustments to legal and financing structures, optimization of intercompany transactions, and reviews of tax legislation.
• Implement compliance solutions and tax-rule modifications in Boss or indirect tax reporting.
• Collaborate with the Finance Transformation Team to identify process enhancements.
• Assist with Advanced Pricing Agreements and mutual agreement procedures in LATAM countries.
• Work alongside Treasury, Finance, Group Control, Corporate Development, Legal, Internal Audit, Local Finance, and regional controlling teams.
• Master's degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or Law.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CTA, CFA, or equivalent are preferred.
• Over 10 years of experience in international taxation, with substantial regional exposure in LATAM, ideally within a Big Four firm or multinational corporation.
• Demonstrated success in leading regional tax teams or projects, managing advisors, and influencing executive stakeholders.
• Extensive knowledge of direct, indirect, and transfer pricing regulations, including permanent establishment (PE), thin capitalization, withholding taxes, VAT/GST, and cross-border taxation.
• Strong understanding of IFRS/US GAAP tax reporting requirements, which includes deferred tax assets/liabilities, effective tax rate analysis, and valuation allowances.
• Experience in tax audit defense, dispute resolution, appeals, court cases, and management of provisions in systems such as Blika.
• Proficient in tax due diligence, structuring, and integration, including tax clauses in S&P agreements and tax indemnities.
• Capability to identify incentives, optimize legal entity structures, apply for tax rulings/APAs, and design tax-efficient financing structures.
• Proficient in business English and Spanish.
