This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Establish and nurture relationships with state agencies, local governments, recycling partners, and other stakeholders to position The Battery Network as a leader in the battery collection and recycling industry.
• Update, revise, and distribute stewardship plans and agreements for the jurisdictions where The Battery Network acts as the designated Battery Stewardship Organization.
• Serve as the primary liaison for assigned states, overseeing compliance with stewardship laws and regulations.
• Manage everyday interactions with regulatory agencies, local governments, and program partners.
• Ensure adherence to current state battery EPR laws by achieving performance objectives such as collection targets, accessibility of collection sites, educational and outreach initiatives, and budget management.
• Establish annual performance metrics for regulated states in collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, and oversee progress throughout the year to meet or exceed these targets.
• Develop data-driven presentations that showcase success against state scorecard metrics, and present these quarterly to regulators and internal teams as needed.
• Work with Marketing & Communications to design, maintain, and distribute state-specific educational and awareness campaigns aimed at meeting state performance goals for consumer awareness.
• Collaborate with internal teams (operations, finance) to ensure successful implementation of stewardship activities to achieve total pounds collected and adhere to state budgets.
• Create and disseminate state-specific annual reports to verify compliance with planning and legal requirements.
• Stay updated on new and evolving regulations and industry standards and evaluate their impact on current programs.
• Engage with industry forums, associations, and conferences to gather insights on benchmarking and best practices.
• Identify opportunities to enhance program efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction within the region.
• Lead special projects that support regulated state programs.
• Provide insights to the Director of State Stewardship regarding policy trends, risks, and emerging issues in assigned states.
• Oversee the State Program Coordinator, ensuring the maintenance, support, and expansion of collection sites in regulated jurisdictions.
• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor or Senior Leadership Team.
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, industrial engineering, supply chain management, or a related field, along with three (3) years of experience in program or project management within the battery or product industry, sustainability, recycling, compliance, government, or environmental regulations AND/OR
• Seven (7) years of experience in program or project management within the battery or product industry, sustainability, recycling, compliance, government, or regulatory sectors.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for The Battery Network, with or without sponsorship.
