
Regional Lead β Rail Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
β’ Provide leadership within the region for railroad projects while supporting strategic growth initiatives in the designated area.
β’ Oversee the planning, design, coordination, and execution of industry tracks, terminals, spurs, mainlines, yards, and sidings.
β’ Collaborate with railroad companies on Department of Transportation (DOT) and municipal public agency projects that involve at-grade crossings, grade-separated structures, and utility crossings.
β’ Act as a senior technical advisor and resource for rail design, grading, drainage, and related infrastructure matters.
β’ Develop and enhance relationships with clients, railroad operators, public agencies, and industry partners.
β’ Assist in business development activities, including client interaction, proposal preparation, project pursuits, participation in industry organizations, and conferences.
β’ Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, designers, and junior staff across various offices and project teams.
β’ Work together with Project Managers and regional leadership on staffing, resource planning, and enhancing operational efficiency.
β’ Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies across multiple states to guarantee compliance with regulatory and railroad standards.
β’ Lead the implementation and enforcement of Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) throughout the project lifecycle.
β’ Assist in the development and standardization of rail engineering practices, coordination, design, and project delivery methods.
β’ Travel periodically for client meetings, project site inspections, regional coordination, and industry events.
β’ Carry out additional duties as required.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
β’ At least 10 years of relevant experience in rail, transit, railroad infrastructure, and transportation/land development engineering projects.
β’ A Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
β’ Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary rail engineering projects and managing client relationships.
β’ Strong comprehension of design standards for tracks, at-grade railroad crossings, grade-separated structures, and utility crossings.
β’ Preferred experience in mentoring technical staff and leading engineering teams across various projects or offices.
β’ Familiarity with CAD platforms and standard engineering software applications.
β’ Strong skills in business development, communication, leadership, and organization.
β’ Ability to collaborate effectively with railroad personnel, clients, agencies, contractors, and internal teams.
β’ Capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
β’ Willingness to travel regionally as necessary to support project delivery and client engagement.
