This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Provide leadership in the region for railroad projects while supporting strategic growth initiatives within the designated area.
• Oversee the planning, design, coordination, and execution of industry tracks, terminals, spurs, mainlines, yards, and sidings.
• Collaborate with railroad companies on projects involving at-grade crossings, grade-separated structures, and utility crossings in conjunction with DOT and municipal public agencies.
• Act as a senior technical resource and advisor in rail design, grading, drainage, and related infrastructure matters.
• Foster and enhance relationships with clients, railroad operators, public agencies, and industry collaborators.
• Assist in business development efforts, which include client engagement, proposal creation, project pursuits, industry organization involvement, and conferences.
• Mentor, guide, and provide technical support to engineers, designers, and junior staff across various offices and project teams.
• Work alongside Project Managers and regional leadership on staffing, resource management, and operational efficiency.
• Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies to ensure compliance with regulations and railroad standards.
• Lead the implementation and enforcement of QA/QC throughout the project development and delivery phases.
• Promote the standardization of rail engineering, coordination, design, and project execution practices.
• Travel periodically for client meetings, project site visits, regional coordination, and industry events.
• Perform additional duties as required.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of pertinent experience in rail, transit, railroad infrastructure, and transportation/land development engineering projects.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
• Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary rail engineering projects and managing client interactions.
• Strong grasp of design standards applicable to track, at-grade railroad crossings, grade-separated structures, and utility crossings.
• Preferred experience in mentoring technical staff and leading engineering teams across various projects or offices.
• Familiarity with CAD platforms and standard engineering software applications.
• Excellent business development, communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
• Capability to effectively collaborate with railroad personnel, clients, agencies, contractors, and internal teams.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team culture.
• Willingness to travel regionally as necessary to facilitate project delivery and client interactions.
