Regional Business Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop a comprehensive regional business plan by translating national and zone priorities, including objectives, account priorities, resource allocation, and success metrics.

• Create structured operating rhythms that encompass field coaching, business reviews, performance monitoring, opportunity planning, and necessary adjustments.

• Leverage data, market intelligence, and insights from the field to discover growth opportunities and enhance regional execution.

• Take ownership of regional outcomes, budget management, forecasting, and responsible resource allocation.

• Recruit, onboard, train, engage, and retain a team of seven Regional Account Managers.

• Mentor team members in the field, offer constructive feedback, develop individual growth plans, and prepare for succession.

• Set clear expectations while managing accountability and addressing performance issues.

• Ensure that account strategies align with patient journeys, referral networks, access considerations, customer requirements, and competitive landscape.

• Elevate the quality of customer engagement in both pediatric and adult hepatology and gastroenterology environments.

• Facilitate compliant coordination aimed at eliminating barriers in the patient journey.

• Enhance clinical and business knowledge related to rare cholestatic liver disease and the Liver portfolio.

• Collaborate with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Commercial Training and Effectiveness, Operations, Analytics, and Advocacy.

• Deliver actionable insights from the field to guide strategy, messaging, training, resources, and execution.

• Lead a diverse, ethical, compliant, and adaptable team through periods of change and uncertainty.


⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.

• Over 10 years of progressive commercial experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors.

• At least 3 years of proven sales leadership experience with direct accountability for field team performance and talent development.

• A demonstrated history of achieving business results while fostering engaged, capable, and accountable teams.

• Extensive experience in field coaching, providing honest and constructive feedback, managing performance, and cultivating future leaders.

• Experience in rare diseases, orphan drugs, or highly specialized scientific commercial roles.

• Background in hepatology, gastroenterology, pediatric specialty care, or other intricate specialty markets.

• Proven ability to lead through product launches, indication expansions, organizational changes, or in dynamic competitive environments.

• Knowledge of account-based selling, health system dynamics, referral networks, centers of excellence, and patient services in rare disease markets.

• Experience collaborating with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, Commercial Training and Effectiveness, and Operations.

• Proficient in analyzing business data, identifying insights, formulating regional strategies, and implementing plans in the field.

• Exceptional communication skills, executive presence, judgment, organizational capabilities, and prioritization skills.

• A valid driver’s license is required.

• Willingness to travel up to 70%, including frequent overnight trips and occasional weekend engagements.
