Recycling Programs Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• The Recycling Programs Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing the Circular Action Alliance’s collaboration with California jurisdictions as recycling initiatives are executed under Senate Bill 54 (SB 54).

• Provide guidance to local governments regarding program participation criteria, documentation requirements, reimbursement processes, and continuous implementation activities.

• Oversee contract lifecycle processes, ensure data accuracy, conduct operational evaluations, and manage documentation essential for the implementation and reimbursement of SB 54 programs.

• Interact with designated California jurisdictions through outreach efforts, addressing inquiries, organizing meetings, and monitoring follow-up actions.

• Verify data submitted by jurisdictions concerning recycling programs, which includes operational information and cost documentation.

• Keep precise records, trackers, and supporting documents to ensure readiness for reimbursement reviews and audits.

• Compile summaries of jurisdiction feedback and potential implementation risks for review by management and leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Public Administration, Planning, or a related field.

• At least five years of pertinent professional experience in recycling programs, solid waste management, local government, sustainability initiatives, regulated program administration, or a similar domain.

• Experience collaborating with or assisting local governments, public agencies, or regulated programs is highly preferred.

• Willingness to travel occasionally within California for meetings, workshops, or site visits.

• Knowledge of SB 54, SB 1383, or other California recycling and waste regulations is advantageous.

• Previous experience in supporting public-sector agreements, regulated program documentation, jurisdiction coordination, or stakeholder-facing program administration is beneficial.
