
Reading Specialist – Interventionist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Oversee instructional programs tailored for students with individualized requirements, as well as those needing Tier Two and Tier Three evidence-based interventions in Reading.
• Engage in the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) process along with the mandated procedures outlined in the Virginia Literacy Act.
• Deliver intervention and monitor progress for students with identified gaps based on prior state assessments and current performance levels.
• Collaborate effectively with fellow teachers and administration to ensure that the school's MTSS initiatives are aligned with enhancing student achievement.
• Identify at-risk students by evaluating their grades, screening results, and test scores that fall below proficiency standards.
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous instructional sessions tailored to the unique needs of students.
• Administer and report on State Standardized Testing, which includes but is not limited to WIDA, VALLSS Screeners, CIP Benchmarks, SOL tests, Work Keys, ASVAB, and WIZE.
• Keep accurate records of attendance, communication logs, MTSS meeting minutes, PLP progress monitoring, and related documentation.
• Maintain an up-to-date grade book.
• Manage a homeroom and fulfill all associated homeroom responsibilities.
• Provide weekly synchronous lessons.
• Oversee the completion of asynchronous interventions and communicate with administration and families regarding progress.
• Collaborate with reading and English language arts teachers to plan for flexible student groupings.
• Draft and oversee 504 accommodations.
• Must be highly qualified and certified to teach in Virginia for middle and high school levels, or an educator who has successfully completed the Reading Specialist microcredential course.
• Possess strong technological skills, particularly with Google Suite and Zoom.
• Ability to analyze, create, implement, and track intervention plans and strategies effectively.
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
