
R&D Management Trainee – Full-Stack Engineer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Develop features across the entire stack with a primary emphasis on the backend: APIs, business logic, data processing, and third-party integrations.
• Engage in the design of technical solutions, along with coding, integration testing, and deployment activities.
• Take responsibility for the quality of the features you create and ensure they are delivered according to specifications.
• Assist in investigating production bugs, conducting root cause analysis, and resolving issues.
• Utilize logging, monitoring, and database tools to methodically trace and diagnose issues.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of system stability, performance, and code maintainability.
• Adhere to team engineering standards, including code reviews, documentation, and testing protocols.
• Communicate progress, risks, and obstacles proactively.
• Partake in post-launch retrospectives to enhance your code quality and engineering judgment continuously.
• As you develop professionally, assume greater ownership of modules and technical decisions.
• Recent graduate from a US university (BS or MS), or within 1–2 years of graduation.
• Proficient in at least one backend programming language: JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, Go, or PHP.
• Understanding of web fundamentals: HTTP, RESTful API design, frontend-backend interaction, and relational databases.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL).
• Capable of reading documentation, debugging systematically, and taking ownership of work until completion.
• Dependable and communicative — you identify issues early and follow through on your commitments.
• **Nice to Have**
• Experience with any of the following: React, Node.js, Next.js, NestJS, Python, PostgreSQL, Redis.
• Involvement in AI/LLM projects: prompt engineering, RAG, knowledge bases, chatbots, or content generation.
• Experience in Shopify app development, independent store technology, SEO tools, or SaaS products.
• Internship experience at a tech or SaaS company; contributions to open source projects or a personal project portfolio.
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD practices, or cloud services (AWS, Aliyun, etc.).
• An active GitHub profile with a consistent commit history.
• Background in competitive programming (ACM, LanQiao Cup, etc.).
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.).
• Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese for communication.
