R&D Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, design, and develop innovative neural network architectures for the next-generation YOLO models.

• Create essential components such as backbones, necks, heads, attention modules, and efficient building blocks.

• Analyze, replicate, and build upon cutting-edge research papers to create functional model architectures from the ground up.

• Execute comprehensive ablation studies and large-scale architecture experiments across standard benchmarks.

• Enhance accuracy, latency, and scalability through techniques like distillation, pruning, and quantization-aware design.

• Develop training recipes and evaluation pipelines for detection, segmentation, pose, and new vision tasks.

• Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to transform research concepts into production-ready open-source models.

• Participate in foundational model initiatives that will underpin future YOLO and broader vision systems.

• Take responsibility for assigned R&D tasks beyond architectural work, efficiently and accurately resolving issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical experience in computer vision and deep learning with a focus on architecture design.

• Demonstrated success in building models from scratch, rather than merely refining pretrained checkpoints.

• Expert-level proficiency in Python and deep expertise in PyTorch, including custom layers, modules, and training loops.

• Strong understanding of the fundamentals of convolutions, attention, normalization, optimization, and loss design.

• Capability to read and efficiently implement research papers from the ground up.

• Experience in efficiency research areas such as quantization, pruning, distillation, or neural architecture search.

• Robust portfolio showcasing research contributions through papers, preprints, open-source code, or original model work.

• High degree of ownership, adaptability, and comfort in a fast-paced research environment.
