R&D Engineer 3, Electrical Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accountable for the design engineering of electrical systems.

• Manages and coordinates efforts with assigned subcontractors.

• Oversees the design coordination of electrical systems for microgrids and Data Centers.

• Defines and assesses project requirements, develops timelines, and ensures their execution.

• Produces and evaluates electrical system design outputs such as one-line diagrams, equipment requirement specifications, functional specifications, system design descriptions, engineering studies, engineering reports, Inspection, Test, Analysis & Acceptance Criteria (ITAAC), and related calculations.

• Conducts interdisciplinary reviews of the work products from interfacing disciplines and facilitates owner review/acceptance of subcontractor outputs.

• Carries out additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is mandatory, preferably with a focus on power systems analysis.

• At least 5 years of experience in the commercial power sector emphasizing design or systems engineering is essential.

• Proficient knowledge of electric power distribution, load following, dynamic Data Center power demands, and energy storage.

• Familiarity with Grid-Forming Control, Grid-Following Control, and EPMS.

• Extensive experience with ETAP for Microgrid Power System Analysis, distribution network analysis, load flow, short-circuit, protective relaying, and coordination analysis.

• Experience with Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems for steam generation, steam valves, safety systems, and the integration of closed-loop SCADA controlled systems in turbo-machinery and industrial processes.

• Proven experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams comprising various engineering disciplines, operations, maintenance, planning, etc.

• Involvement with industry standards associations or working groups.

• Proven project management capabilities.

• Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
