Railroad Grade Crossing Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Perform traffic operations and safety evaluations for rail grade crossings and related roadway initiatives.

• Develop both preliminary and final design documents, specifications, and engineering calculations.

• Oversee the drafting of project deliverables while ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.

• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and provide guidance to junior engineers.

• Establish and nurture client relationships, including those with local and state transportation agencies.

• Represent Benesch at various industry and professional gatherings.

• Assist in traffic design and transportation engineering efforts for roadway and infrastructure projects.

• Create traffic signal designs, maintenance plans for traffic, signage and pavement marking layouts, and transportation analyses.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.

• 0-3 years of experience in rail/traffic engineering, grade crossing design, or similar transportation roles.

• Experience collaborating with public agencies and municipalities; state Department of Transportation experience is preferred.

• Strong understanding of traffic operations, signal design, safety evaluations, and roadway design.

• Proficient in CADD, Synchro, GIS, and other traffic modeling or design software.

• Capable of working independently, managing project deliverables, and mentoring team members.

• Exceptional communication, client relations, and organizational skills.
