Quantum Research Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Execute experimental tasks on a trapped ion QCCD testbed, creating validation and verification tests while gathering data on system performance and hardware prototypes.

• Innovate and design software and hardware automation tools to enhance the utilization and uptime of the testbed and commercial systems.

• Conduct design trade studies and analyses to guide the architecture and design of future quantum computing systems.

• Manage operational error models, assess scientific outcomes, pinpoint improvement areas, and implement refined processes and directions for further exploration.

• Share scientific findings internally, at conferences, and through publications.

• Formulate system designs, plans, and testing procedures that align with the broader company strategy.

• Prolong the operational uptime of the testbed beyond standard business hours.

• Travel quarterly to the site hosting the system.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD must be obtained prior to the start date.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience (including Ph.D.) in one or more of the following fields: quantum computing, quantum information, atomic physics, laser and optics design, experimental control system development, or electronics design.

• Must be a U.S. Person as defined by contractual obligations, which includes U.S. citizens, permanent residents, green card holders, and individuals granted asylum or refugee status.

• Due to national security regulations set by the U.S. Government, candidates must not be nationals of the People's Republic of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.
