This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.
• Design and take ownership of the QA strategy for both the NedGraphics and Optitex product lines.
• Spearhead the strategic evolution of the QA function into a modern, automation-centric, AI-enhanced operation complete with a roadmap and key milestones.
• Foster a quality-driven culture within the team and the broader engineering organization.
• Develop and implement standards, processes, and quality checkpoints for product launches.
• Collaborate with engineering leads and Product Managers to embed QA throughout the development lifecycle.
• Define team objectives and encourage individual growth.
• Oversee performance management, conduct 1:1 meetings, and support career advancement for a team of five QA engineers.
• Increase automation coverage across the product suite.
• Establish the automation roadmap and guide the current automation engineer.
• Identify and integrate AI-assisted testing solutions.
• Minimize dependence on manual regression testing.
• Participate in test design, execution, and defect analysis for intricate features.
• Stay closely connected to the product portfolio and offer informed quality assessments.
• Set benchmarks for effective testing practices.
• Proven leadership or management experience in a QA team, preferably having built or significantly revamped a QA function from inception.
• Demonstrated capability to create or implement a QA strategy, rather than merely adhering to one.
• Hands-on experience in software testing; this position requires a player-coach approach.
• Strong background in testing native desktop applications.
• Familiarity with at least one test automation framework for UI desktop applications, such as WinAppDriver, Appium, Squish by Qt Group, or a similar tool.
• Skilled in Python and shell scripting for developing and maintaining test automation.
• Ability to integrate the automation framework into a broader AI-driven build process utilizing tools like Azure DevOps, Cursor, and Claude cloud agents.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence engineers, PMs, and senior stakeholders.
• Proven track record of enhancing QA processes and achieving measurable outcomes.
• Experience collaborating effectively across multiple time zones with a globally distributed team, including asynchronous communication and adaptive scheduling.
• Previous experience leading a team, with a clear strategy for setting direction, delegating tasks, and developing team members.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted testing tools or a genuine enthusiasm for their adoption.
• Background in software product companies, preferably with portfolios of desktop applications.
• Exposure to agile or scrum methodologies.
• Experience in establishing an automation capability from the ground up.
• Knowledge of Azure DevOps for tracking work items, managing test plans, and integrating pipelines.
