• Assist in the quality assurance initiatives for the Long Term Care claims administration systems, engaging in the full QA cycle, which encompasses analysis, planning, execution, and reporting.
• Analyze Business Requirement Specifications, Technical Design Documents, and conduct impact assessments to formulate a test strategy, followed by the development of the test plan, selection of test cases, and outlining the necessary activities to achieve the testing goals.
• Carry out the tasks as per the test plan, monitoring progress and documenting test outcomes and defects.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, business analysts, and other stakeholders to track and communicate testing progress.
• In the event of discovering defects during testing, assess defect impact and severity, and ensure defects are tracked to resolution, including planning and executing any required retesting.
• Offer constructive feedback to developers to minimize future defect occurrences.
• For defects that make it into production, perform root cause analysis (RCA) and enhance testing efforts to prevent recurrence.
• Undertake administrative responsibilities aligned with departmental needs (participate and contribute in meetings, agile ceremonies (Stand Ups, Core Hours, Retrospectives, etc.), respond to communications promptly, provide status updates, review/update/submit tickets, and engage in change management activities).
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and work collaboratively with the team to ensure timely completion of all planned activities.
• Support team members as necessary and assist in activity planning, estimations, and prioritization.
• Engage in various types of QA efforts as necessary, including but not limited to smoke testing, unit testing, functional testing, user acceptance testing, performance testing, regression testing, and interface testing.
• Contribute to the advancement of the overall QA organization by keeping abreast of new testing tools and strategies, aiding in test automation, steering the team towards DevOps adoption, enhancing test standards and procedures, and pursuing ongoing process improvements.
• Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant experience as a quality analyst in a complex environment with multiple interfacing applications, preferably within the insurance/finance sector.
• Strong analytical skills and a detail-oriented approach, with the ability to grasp complex business requirements, understand interdependencies between systems, and recognize the impact of proposed changes on various products and system functionalities.
• Proven experience in a cross-functional team setting, complemented by effective problem-solving skills and a results-driven perspective.
• Excellent communication abilities to interact with diverse stakeholders while managing concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with a range of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Proficient in SQL, Excel, and Scripting, along with a solid command of other MS Office tools.
• Practical understanding of LTC insurance products and premiums is preferred.
• Agile experience, along with familiarity with insurance systems (specifically insurance premium calculations) and testing applications across various technologies, including Java and Mainframe, is advantageous.
• Development experience and/or a background as a Business Analyst would be beneficial for this position.
• Professional certifications such as Six Sigma, Agile certifications, and other quality-related credentials will be a plus.
• Experience in setting up automated and/or performance testing along with their associated tools will be an added advantage.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot complex issues.
• Collaborate effectively with developers, BAs, and product owners.
• Proficient in using defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps) and conducting strong root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with load/stress testing concepts and the ability to execute scripts if necessary.
• Capability to create detailed test plans, cases, and scripts for complex systems.
