QA Test Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Qatar.

📋 Description

• Quality Assurance & Testing: Develop, implement, and sustain both manual and automated testing for the Theia™ SDK, our internal data platform, and web tools.

• Create comprehensive test plans and reproducible bug reports.

• Test Automation: Construct and enhance automated test suites (unit, integration, E2E, API, regression) utilizing Python-based frameworks.

• Embed tests into CI to ensure early detection of failures.

• Scripts & Internal Automations: Develop scripts to alleviate repetitive tasks for the team—data manipulation tools, log/report scrapers, environment setup utilities, release checklists, and minor internal applications.

• Jira & Project Hygiene: Manage Jira workflows, ticket refinement, dashboards, and reporting.

• Maintain organized boards, associate defects with root causes, and assist the team in achieving a predictable sprint cadence.

• AI Development Automations: Contribute to the development and maintenance of our AI-assisted development tools—agent workflows, prompt libraries, automated PR reviewers, evaluation harnesses, and configurations that enhance engineering efficiency.

• Quality Advocacy: Collaborate with engineering, data science, and product teams to integrate quality earlier in the process—reviewing specifications, engaging in design discussions, and promoting testability.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3+ years of professional experience in QA, test engineering, or a related software field (internships, bootcamps, or substantial personal projects are regarded).

• Proficient in Python—capable of writing scripts, basic modules, and test code.

• Practical knowledge of at least one automated testing framework (e.g., PyTest, unittest, Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium).

• Strong understanding of QA principles: test plans, test cases, regression testing, exploratory testing, and the bug lifecycle.

• Familiarity with Jira (or equivalent) and version control systems like Git/GitHub.

• Excellent written communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to addressing issues.

• Highly Desirable: Experience in API testing (Postman, REST-assured, requests, or similar) and ability to interpret OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.

• Knowledge of CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI) and Docker.

• Hands-on experience with AI development tools and an understanding of prompt engineering, evaluations, and agent workflows.

• Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS: EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch).

• Background in testing SDKs, real-time systems, or cross-platform clients (mobile, desktop, VR/AR).

• Familiarity with signal processing, time-series, or biosensor/eye-tracking data, or a strong desire to learn about it.

• Basic scripting experience in JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, or PowerShell for cross-environment automation.
