QA Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Oversee the entire testing lifecycle across various teams and projects, defining and enforcing QA processes while standardizing tools, environments, and test coverage throughout the organization.

• Establish and continually enhance QA processes, procedures, and standards for product testing prior to market release.

• Ensure a scalable test infrastructure and expand our testing capabilities into advanced areas, including performance, security, and compliance testing.

• Identify systemic quality gaps and cross-team risks, perform trend analysis on quality metrics, and proactively address potential issues that may impact release stability or timelines.

• Evaluate and resolve organizational blockers in QA workflows, balancing trade-offs and delivery timelines while ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.

• Provide executive-level QA insights, including reports, dashboards, and strategic recommendations, to the Head of QA and other cross-functional leaders.

• Manage and mentor QA Leads and senior individual contributors, promoting career growth, succession planning, and technical leadership within the QA organization.

• Distribute workloads, set objectives for QA Leads and their teams, and conduct performance evaluations across the function.

• Drive ongoing performance assessment and enhancement of QA teams, resolving conflicts, supporting morale, and cultivating a culture of ownership, accountability, and excellence.

• Champion Agile testing and quality throughout the business, fostering quality awareness at every stage of the product lifecycle.

• Supervise QA engineers and Leads in testing our products and implementing automation across cross-functional teams.

• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business analysts to design requirements and comprehensive testing strategies.

• Engage in reviews of software requirements, design documents, and system architecture to ensure early address of testing requirements.

• Manage and triage reported defects, maintaining visibility over how features delivered by other teams interact across subsystems.

• Continuously enhance and refactor our testing infrastructure and automated/regression frameworks to guarantee reliability and scalability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 8 years of experience in software QA, encompassing both manual and automated testing of web and API applications, including at least 2 years of direct management of QA Leads, senior engineers, or a multi-team QA function.

• Experience in the insurance sector or a similarly regulated and complex industry is a significant advantage.

• Proven success in establishing QA processes, tools, and standards organization-wide, beyond just a single team.

• Experience with executive-level reporting — adept at transforming quality metrics into insights and recommendations for senior leadership.

• Comprehensive understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes across the entire testing lifecycle.

• Experience in implementing and scaling automated testing frameworks in an Agile environment, with a strong grasp of BDD and Gherkin.

• Hands-on experience with testing tools for JavaScript and .NET, such as Jest, Mocha, JMeter, Cypress, Selenium, Puppeteer, NUnit, Cucumber, Telerik, Specflow, or similar, and knowledge of integrating them with CI.

• Proficient in defect tracking and test management tools, with significant experience in setting up QA processes and conducting structured performance reviews.

• Working knowledge of performance, security, and compliance testing domains.

• Practical experience in building and deploying AI-driven processes across teams or workflows.
