QA Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hungary.

📋 Description

• Oversee the entire testing lifecycle across various teams and projects, establishing and enforcing QA processes while standardizing tools, environments, and test coverage throughout the organization.

• Develop and continuously enhance QA processes, procedures, and standards for product testing prior to market launch.

• Ensure the scalability of test infrastructure and expand our testing capabilities into advanced areas, including performance, security, and compliance testing.

• Identify systemic quality deficiencies and risks across teams, conduct trend analysis on quality metrics, and foresee potential issues that may impact release stability or timelines.

• Assess and address organizational obstacles in QA workflows, balancing trade-offs and delivery timelines while prioritizing stakeholder satisfaction.

• Provide executive-level QA insights — including reports, dashboards, and strategic recommendations — to the Head of QA and cross-functional leadership.

• Manage and mentor QA Leads and senior contributors, promoting career development, succession planning, and technical leadership within the QA organization.

• Distribute workloads, establish goals for QA Leads and their teams, and conduct performance evaluations across the department.

• Encourage ongoing performance assessment and enhancement of QA teams — resolving conflicts, supporting morale, and fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and excellence.

• Champion Agile testing and quality throughout the organization, instilling quality awareness at every phase of the product lifecycle.

• Supervise QA engineers and Leads in testing our products and implementing automation across cross-functional teams.

• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business analysts to define requirements and comprehensive testing strategies.

• Engage in reviews of software requirements, design documents, and system architecture to ensure early attention to testing requirements.

• Manage and triage reported defects, maintaining visibility over how features delivered by other teams interact across subsystems.

• Continuously enhance and refactor our testing infrastructure and automated/regression frameworks to guarantee reliability and scalability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 8 years of experience in software QA, covering both manual and automated testing of web and API applications, with at least 2 years of direct management experience with QA Leads, senior engineers, or a multi-team QA function.

• Experience in the insurance industry or a similarly regulated and complex sector is highly advantageous.

• Demonstrated success in establishing QA processes, tools, and standards organization-wide, beyond just a single team.

• Proficient in navigating executive-level reporting — adept at translating quality metrics into insights and recommendations for senior leadership.

• Comprehensive understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes throughout the complete testing lifecycle.

• Experience in implementing and scaling automated testing frameworks in an agile environment, with a solid grasp of BDD and Gherkin.

• Familiarity with testing tools for JavaScript and .NET, such as Jest, Mocha, JMeter, Cypress, Selenium, Puppeteer, NUnit, Cucumber, Telerik, Specflow, or similar, and their integration with CI.

• Skilled in defect tracking and test management tools, with substantial experience in establishing QA processes and conducting structured performance reviews.

• Practical knowledge of performance, security, and compliance testing domains.

• Hands-on experience in developing and implementing AI-driven processes across teams or workflows.
