QA Automation Lead, Data Intelligence

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Design, scale, and maintain robust automation frameworks that effectively test the intricate SaaS and distributed data architectures of the Actian Data Intelligence Platform.

• Seamlessly integrate automated test suites into the CI/CD pipeline (GitHub Actions/Jenkins) to facilitate true continuous integration and prompt feedback loops.

• Propel in-depth integration, API, performance, resilience, and data integrity automation across the entire product stack.

• Serve as the primary technical authority for the QA automation team, setting clean code standards for test scripts, performing thorough code reviews, and minimizing technical debt within the framework.

• Mentor junior automation engineers and assist functional QA testers in adopting automated practices, ensuring accountability for their automation objectives.

• Effectively allocate engineering resources among feature testing, framework enhancements, and reducing technical debt.

• Take ownership of the final quality approval for platform releases, possessing the technical authority and determination to halt deployments if quality standards are not met.

• Work closely with Product Management, Core Engineering, and DevOps to gain early insights into new features, devising automation strategies prior to code development.

• Collaborate with the Sustaining Engineering team to investigate production leaks, swiftly creating automated tests to replicate bugs and ensuring they do not recur.

• Treat flaky tests as significant system anomalies. Track, isolate, and eliminate them to uphold complete trust in the automation suite.

• Monitor and report on essential QA operational metrics (Test Coverage, Automation Pass Rates, Execution Time, and Defect Leakage Rate) to enhance delivery speed.

• Lead the adoption of modern AI tools to expedite test case generation, refine test suites, and intelligently forecast defect hotspots.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong background as a Senior SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) or QA Automation Lead, with a proven track record in testing complex enterprise SaaS, distributed systems, big data engines, or data platforms.

• Deep expertise in programming languages (Java, Python, or Go) and contemporary testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or custom-built frameworks). Exceptional SQL capabilities and API testing proficiency are essential.

• Outstanding proactive approach. You do not wait for code delivery to consider testing. You foresee regressions, challenge architectural assumptions, and actively advocate for built-in quality.

• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and version control workflows (GitHub). You comprehend how infrastructure affects application stability.

• Skilled in utilizing AI assistants and generative AI tools to develop smarter test suites, generate mock data, and effectively analyze test failures.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to assert your position on quality metrics while fostering collaborative alignment with engineering leadership.
