QA Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Advocate for quality assurance while promoting the adoption of best practices throughout the product and engineering teams.

• Work collaboratively with developers, designers, and product managers to establish effective testing strategies and acceptance criteria.

• Strategically plan, design, and execute comprehensive manual and automated test cases to ensure complete feature and user scenario coverage.

• Lead technical decisions regarding our software testing methodologies and tools.

• Develop, maintain, and guide the evolution of the test automation framework.

• Provide mentorship to test engineers on automation best practices.

• Identify, document, and monitor defects with clear, actionable reporting.

• Validate fixes, sustain comprehensive regression test suites, and promote continuous enhancement of QA processes.

• Conduct exploratory, usability, and edge-case testing to reveal hidden issues.

• Generate detailed test reports and effectively communicate findings and risks to stakeholders.

• Assist in defining, maintaining, and enhancing test environments to reflect production conditions.

• Continuously assess and improve QA workflows, tools (including modern AI solutions), and team efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software testing or QA, with demonstrated proficiency in both manual and automated testing along with strong analytical abilities.

• Experience in designing and implementing QA strategies within agile development settings.

• Practical experience with test automation tools such as Cypress, Selenium, or similar frameworks.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.

• Proven track record in enhancing QA standards and improving product quality across various releases.

• Strong grasp of QA methodologies, tools, and testing lifecycles.

• Expertise in exploratory, regression, and smoke testing techniques.

• Experience with cross-browser, cross-platform, and responsive UI testing.

• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

• Familiarity with Jira or other project management and defect tracking systems.

• Knowledge of source control management tools such as Git.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating tests into automated build processes.

• Working knowledge of JavaScript or another high-level programming language.

• Leadership experience in software development or software testing.

• Proficiency with modern AI-driven tools such as Claude Code.
