• You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of data as it flows through ETL pipelines within a state Medicaid setting — from assessing requirements to resolving defects, conducting regression testing, and implementing automation.
• Analyze Change Requests (CRs) and engage in requirement analysis for new EDW extracts and transformations.
• Take part in data modeling and requirement gathering sessions to guarantee that testing aligns with business objectives.
• Conduct backend testing to compare data from source systems with target Medicaid Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW); confirm source-to-target data mapping and transformation logic for Medicaid datasets.
• Assess data quality, standardization rules, and accuracy in loading across both full-load and incremental-load cycles.
• Craft complex SQL queries — including multi-table JOINs, aggregations, row counts, null checks, duplicate checks, and referential integrity validation — to ensure ETL outputs comply with business rules.
• Develop test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for ETL processes; implement both manual and automated testing.
• Identify, document, and monitor discrepancies using JIRA, HP ALM, or Azure DevOps Test Plans; work closely with ETL developers to address defects and perform regression testing.
• Create automated database validation scripts utilizing Python, SQLAlchemy, and Pandas; develop shell scripts for ETL monitoring and log analysis.
• Incorporate test automation into CI/CD pipelines within Azure DevOps.
• Document testing outcomes and deliver thorough, actionable feedback to stakeholders.
• Over 5 years of experience in software testing and quality assurance.
• More than 5 years of experience testing backend, database, EDW, or ETL systems.
• At least 4 years of robust SQL experience and practical knowledge with one RDBMS (Teradata, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar).
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in UI, smoke, end-to-end, and integration testing.
• Over 4 years of experience in test design and familiarity with at least one test management tool (Azure DevOps, JIRA, HP ALM).
• Strong comprehension of EDW and ETL principles, including Star/Snowflake schema and Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD1/SCD2).
• Direct experience in a Medicaid, healthcare, or government data context, with knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare data standards (837/835 claims, ICD-9/10, CPT, HL7).
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Practical experience with Informatica PowerCenter (preferred qualification).
• Familiarity with Medicaid reporting, encounter data, and data mart validation (preferred qualification).
• Knowledge of Medicaid Enterprise Systems (MES) or a state Medicaid agency (e.g., Illinois HFS) (preferred qualification).
• Experience with Python test automation and GitHub for code management (preferred qualification).
• Background in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (preferred qualification).
