QA Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Conduct independent verification and validation (IV&V) of ERIS programming modifications and enhancements across both IBM mainframe and Linux-based environments.

• Strategize, implement, and document testing for each January software release as well as additional modifications throughout the year.

• Evaluate software and processes as ERIS components migrate from mainframe to Linux/SAP Data Services.

• Validate software configurations and ensure the correct deployment of application components.

• Review and confirm the accuracy and consistency of statistics outputs.

• Undertake ad hoc investigations into data transformation and replication activities; analyze data discrepancies and suggest remediation actions.

• Conduct post-production validation, which includes reviewing production statistics reports and confirming results for each production run.

• Perform segmentation testing for specific data segments or business populations.

• Test ERIS reports and stored procedures on the Compliance Data Warehouse affected by annual and in-year modifications.

• Create and execute system test plans, test cases, and test scripts for data validation and functional verification.

• Record test results, defects, and issues; monitor defects until resolution.

• Work in collaboration with developers, data engineers, database administrators, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, understand changes, and validate outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of overall experience (4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).

• Capability to obtain and maintain a public trust requiring U.S. Citizenship or a Green Card.

• Proficiency with SQL and SAP Data Services ETL scripts (Extract, Transform, Load).

• Experience executing data extracts in DB2, including table creation and data extraction.

• Foundational knowledge of COBOL, including the ability to read and write simple COBOL programs.

• Familiarity with JCL (Job Control Language) for data extraction and sorting.

• Understanding of IBM utilities such as SORT and IEBGENER.

• Knowledge of FTP for data transfer and file movement.

• Basic understanding of Python, including the ability to read and comprehend code.

• Experience using Microsoft Office 365 applications: Excel, SharePoint, Word, and Access.

• Practical experience performing system testing activities, which includes writing system test plans, developing data validation processes, executing system test cases and/or scripts, and documenting system defects and test results.

• Preferred: Experience with IRS, federal financial, or large-scale revenue/financial systems.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Sybase IQ or comparable columnar database technologies.

• Preferred: Experience in modernization or migration projects transitioning from mainframe to open systems.

• Preferred: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities related to data quality and data transformation.

• Preferred: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
