Python Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.

📋 Description

• Design and implement server-side logic that ensures high performance and effective communication between front-end and back-end systems.

• Oversee and enhance the Python web application stack, which includes VarSome Clinical, VarSome.com, and the VarSome API.

• Engage in code reviews to uphold code quality, participate in architecture discussions, conduct critical testing, optimize performance, and coordinate with frontend teams.

• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and domain experts to define project scopes, resolve dependencies, and deliver integrated features.

• Take part in deployment, monitoring, and on-call rotations as necessary, sharing responsibility for operational aspects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a back-end engineer with Python, specifically using Django/Django Rest Framework in a production setting.

• Strong grasp of software design principles and best practices.

• Experience in building RESTful APIs and actively engaging in code reviews.

• Proficient in working with relational databases, with a preference for experience in MariaDB.

• Understanding of unit, integration, and functional testing to guarantee code reliability.

• Adaptable mindset, willing to take on diverse roles as required.

• Enthusiasm for exploring new technology stacks and stepping beyond your comfort zone.

• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
