This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Conduct vital legal research and gather facts on a variety of sexual violence topics.
• Create materials as required, including memoranda and concise summaries.
• Examine and interpret legislation, regulations, and other policy documents.
• Enhance legal research abilities by supporting research initiatives on state sexual violence laws and related public policy matters.
• Acquire insights into legal and policy analysis by collecting and summarizing pertinent statutes, case law, regulations, and additional resources associated with sexual assault issues.
• Understand the policy development process by assisting with background research and aiding in the creation of memoranda, policy statements, briefing materials, and correspondence under the guidance of staff.
• Engage in team meetings, training sessions, and mentorship programs aimed at enhancing knowledge of legal advocacy, public policy, and nonprofit operations.
• Current law student or recent graduate from a Juris Doctor program.
• Excellent writing, research, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong passion for policy work.
• Proven interest in the topic of sexual violence.
• Proficient in legal research tools, such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Programs (particularly Excel and Word) and Google Workspace (especially Google Docs and Google Sheets).
• Ability to utilize remote meeting platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, and WebEx.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative team spirit.
