This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Propel the mission of the Amputee Coalition through its advocacy and legislative initiatives.
• Track state and federal legislation and regulations that affect the limb loss and limb difference community.
• Deliver expert analysis on policy challenges confronting the LL/LD community.
• Engage individuals with LL/LD to guide policy development.
• Counsel organizational leadership on policy stances, legislative priorities, and public responses.
• Assist in external communication strategies and public announcements.
• Supervise the creation and implementation of the Amputee Coalition’s Policy Matrix and Legislative Agenda.
• Support the Chief Executive Officer in executing the Legislative and Advocacy Agenda.
• Lead and coordinate legislative letters of support.
• Spearhead key organizational policy initiatives and programs.
• Provide strategic direction on legislative, regulatory, and health coverage policies.
• Collaborate with internal teams to further policy objectives.
• Build and maintain relationships with other organizations.
• Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, or a related field, public health, or equivalent experience.
• At least eight (8) years of pertinent experience in public policy and/or government relations.
• Preferred experience in health-related policy.
• Experience in managing government relations or public policy programs.
• Proficient in drafting organizational letters of support, analyzing and researching policies, and writing policy briefs.
• Familiarity with online tools for database management and virtual meeting presentations.
• Knowledge of software necessary for compiling information for policy analysis and communications (e.g., Quorum and Phone 2 Action).
• Understanding of limb loss and limb difference policy initiatives that affect equitable access.
• Experience working with individuals who have limb loss and/or limb difference.
• Proven experience in directly supervising staff.
