This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Leads and manages all engineering activities throughout the proposal, design, quality control, and construction phases of assigned substation projects.
• Provides management and leadership for subconsultants involved in the projects.
• Oversees substation projects by managing engineering scope in accordance with technical contracts, developing change orders, and ensuring adherence to project schedules.
• Directs and coordinates the activities of multiple disciplines on significant projects or a combination of large projects.
• Ensures high-quality standards are maintained to meet both internal and external client requirements in line with company expectations.
• Fosters a positive team culture that emphasizes strong client service, collaboration, and accountability.
• Offers leadership, coaching, and guidance to technical engineering managers and teams engaged with Key Client work.
• Assesses team capacity, technical competencies, and resource alignment to support Key Client opportunities, project execution, and departmental growth.
• Develops team capabilities necessary for delivering consistent quality, responsiveness, and technical excellence for Key Clients.
• Coaches, trains, and nurtures management staff through regular management meetings, one-on-one discussions, career development talks, talent assessments, succession planning, quarterly reviews, individual promotions, team retention efforts, and follow-up on engagement surveys.
• Manages and approves team budgets, which include revenue, profitability, indirect expenses, training costs, reward and recognition expenses, and costs for team events.
• Aids in hiring, development, engagement, and retention strategies in line with departmental growth and client service requirements.
• Guides the development and execution of departmental continuous improvement and strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, innovation, and long-term success.
• Leads and supports strategic substation opportunities for Key Clients, including positioning, pursuit strategy, proposal development, and execution planning.
• Collaborates with Sales, Project Management, and technical leaders to align client needs with Ulteig’s delivery capabilities, growth objectives, and execution of the territory sales plan.
• Facilitates the successful execution of priority Key Client work by addressing barriers, aligning resources, managing expectations, and reinforcing quality delivery.
• Assists proposal efforts by developing, supplying resources, and reviewing proposals, contracts, work orders, MSAs, and NDAs in collaboration with the Proposal Development Team and Project Management group.
• Establishes and maintains trusted relationships with Key Client stakeholders through responsive communication, technical credibility, and consistent follow-through.
• Identifies opportunities to expand services with existing Key Clients while balancing delivery capacity, profitability, and the health of long-term client relationships.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or equivalent is required.
• A minimum of 15 years of experience in the engineering field is preferred.
• PE registration is mandatory.
• Prior management experience is essential.
• Previous technical substation experience is required.
• Must be analytical, self-driven, and able to work effectively under high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic, and collaborative demeanor.
• Committed and passionate about internal engagement and maximizing the development of others.
• Strong business acumen and industry expertise are necessary.
• Proven ability to develop and sustain trusted Key Client relationships.
• Experience in supporting strategic pursuits, proposals, or initiatives for client growth is essential.
• Demonstrated capability to align technical teams, project execution, and client expectations.
• Strong understanding of substation project delivery, client service, and operational execution.
• Exhibits strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, public, and external agencies.
• High level of initiative with a proven ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and responsiveness, both internally and externally.
• Excellent presentation and verbal/written communication skills are required.
• Displays a high level of initiative and explores new opportunities while understanding the associated risks to the organization.
• Proven experience with Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) and additional software knowledge relevant to the specialty is necessary.
