Protection and Control Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Serve as the technical leader for all engineering tasks within assignments.

• Ensure that all engineering-related activities within the project are conducted efficiently and cost-effectively.

• Demonstrate your expertise by functioning as a design authority in a specific engineering discipline while completing relevant engineering tasks.

• Lead and assist in engineering design efforts for new and existing utility, industrial, and commercial substation protection & control/automation systems, which includes planning, coordinating, and executing both new and retrofit designs.

• Create engineering documentation and conduct analyses, including schematics, logic diagrams, layouts, bills of materials, reports, and calculations, to support precise, standards-compliant system designs.

• Oversee project materials, construction design packages, and resolve technical issues while maintaining ongoing communication, status updates, and support for project teams, management, partners, and customers.

• Ensure compliance with safety practices, industry standards, and company/customer requirements while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and engaging in training to uphold technical proficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.

• Master’s Degree is preferred.

• Over 5 years of experience in protection & control projects for utility clients.

• Capable of reading, accurately interpreting, and applying electrical one-lines, schematics, and instruction manuals.

• Proficient in software tools such as Easy Power, SKM Powertools, ETAP, Aspen, and EMTP.

• A PE License in California is required.

• Candidates must possess work authorization that allows them to be employed by ABB in the US.
