This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Oversees the design and implementation of standardized operational technology (OT) solutions, encompassing PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, while facilitating MES integration and plant-level data structures.
• Engages in commissioning, cutover, and hypercare processes, and aids in the creation of global deployment playbooks.
• Promotes standardization and lifecycle management of industrial automation platforms (such as Siemens, Rockwell Automation, and Schneider Electric), ensuring uniform configuration baselines and version control.
• Assists in structured patching and upgrade cycles, while mitigating technical debt within legacy plant environments.
• Contributes to ongoing improvement by offering technical insights to product backlogs, identifying automation opportunities to boost performance and minimize costs, and suggesting architectural enhancements based on plant feedback.
• Additionally supports pilot projects funded by Transform, including aspects like predictive maintenance.
• Aims to enhance reliability and resilience through the implementation of high-availability and failover designs for essential systems, as well as backing up and disaster recovery strategies for PLC configurations, SCADA servers, and historian systems.
• Participates in initiatives designed to reduce mean time to repair (MTTR) and collaborates with Site Reliability Engineers to improve observability and alerting mechanisms.
• Commits to ongoing personal learning and development to ensure technological relevance in both current and emerging technologies.
• Performs additional responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 6-9 years of experience in manufacturing OT environments.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to collaborate transparently within a dynamic team.
• Practical experience with PLC and SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of industrial networking concepts (including VLANs, network segmentation, and firewalls).
• Understanding of high-availability and disaster recovery principles.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices in industrial settings.
• Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites (25–40%).
