Proposal Specialist – 12 month contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• The Proposal Specialist is responsible for crafting proposals and responses to RFPs/RFQs that effectively communicate the advantages of Grainger's Value Proposition to customers, fostering profitable sales relationships for the company.

• This role involves collaborating closely with sales team members and other Sales Support staff to identify the appropriate solutions for each customer and to tailor language into compelling response documents.

• The Proposal Specialist will also coordinate with various functional areas within the organization to ensure that responses are consistent, accurate, and complete.

• It is essential for the Proposal Specialist to balance customer requests with Grainger's unique capabilities and advantages compared to competitors.

• You will collaborate with the Customer Lifecycle Project Manager and Sales owner to gain insight into the strategy for each specific customer.

• Lead proposal draft review meetings and related processes to ensure timely completion of responses while fulfilling internal partner expectations.

• Draft proposal documents and responses to RFPs/RFQs using Grainger’s standard proposal language, transforming them into effective, professional sales tools that align with the sales strategy and address customer needs.

• Possess a comprehensive understanding of the business and value propositions of each offering, allowing you to articulate Grainger’s strengths in meeting customer requirements effectively in writing.

• Demonstrate creative and persuasive writing skills as necessary to customize responses.

• Consistently achieve individual and team targets for win rates, quality, cycle time, and company metrics.

• Mitigate company risk by agreeing to services that Grainger can support, identifying clauses or requests that do not align with current company capabilities or policies.

• Participate in or lead conference calls with other Sales and Sales Support team members as required during contract negotiations, ensuring that decisions align with Grainger’s capabilities and standards.

• The Proposal Specialist will review, evaluate, and process any necessary changes to draft documents and distribute them to team members as needed.

• A Bachelor's Degree is required.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in proposals, marketing, communications, or contracting is necessary.

• Proficient in writing, reviewing, and analyzing technical proposals.

• Strong creative and persuasive writing abilities, with a readiness to adapt and modify writing styles to effectively market Grainger’s strengths.

• Proven capabilities to lead with influence during the oversight and completion of proposal responses.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate and promote the Grainger Value Proposition.

• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines.

• Understanding of business and legal concepts.

• Ability to work independently and maintain self-motivation is essential.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, MS Excel, Access, MS Outlook, PDF, and Visio.

• Confidence to negotiate successfully with a diverse range of personality types.

• Must exercise discretion when handling confidential documents.

• Experience with Corporate Accounts or Government entities is preferred.
