Project Logistics Principal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Assist in the creation of logistics sourcing strategies encompassing road, rail, air, ocean, warehousing, standard, and project cargo movements.

• Spearhead carrier pricing negotiations and discussions, assessing cost drivers, accessorial structures, risk premiums, and market conditions while addressing service issues.

• Convert project needs into actionable logistics plans, ensuring a balance between safety, service, cost, and risk.

• Actively participate in logistics strategy discussions for NPP and large industrial projects, offering insights on feasibility, routing constraints, permitting timelines, and delivery sequencing.

• Oversee technical assessments related to routing feasibility, permitting requirements, escorts, equipment selection, and site access limitations.

• Provide advice on lift planning, packaging concepts, structural limitations, and transport risk mitigation without managing detailed drafting or documentation.

• Track carrier performance and operational trends to identify risks or deviations from the planned course.

• Take charge of resolving complex issues by coordinating with carriers, surveyors, site teams, authorities, and team members.

• Analyze transportation expenditure, pricing structures, and anticipated demand to pinpoint optimization opportunities.

• Assist in cost reduction and avoidance initiatives, such as carrier rationalization, consolidation strategies, routing alternatives, or mode optimization.

• Contribute to freight budget planning, variance analysis, and reviews of post-execution costs.

• Review purchase order and contract delivery terms to ensure alignment on planned execution.

• Facilitate discussions at both operational and commercial levels.

• Engage with Engineering, Projects, Procurement, Operations, and Sites to foresee issues and synchronize execution.

• Ensure precise logistics execution and visibility in SAP and ATOMS by supervising inputs and validating results.

• Utilize system data to aid in performance tracking, cost analysis, and risk identification, rather than focusing solely on data entry tasks.

• Monitor logistics market conditions, capacity trends, pricing fluctuations, and regulatory changes.

• Share insights to enhance carrier strategy, budget planning, and risk management decisions.

• Assess existing logistics processes and performance outcomes to discover improvement opportunities.

• Support process enhancements aimed at simplifying execution, increasing predictability, lowering costs, and minimizing rework or escalation frequency.

• Contribute lessons learned and best practices from project execution.

• Offer guidance and informal mentoring to less-experienced team members in project cargo execution and issue management.

• Maintain necessary training certifications and foster a safety and compliance culture within logistics operations.

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in supply chain and logistics.
