Project Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist Senior Project Engineers in collaboration with EPC partners, transmission providers, IOUs, and off-take customers.

• Guarantee the effective construction, commissioning, and operation of utility-scale battery energy storage systems and solar initiatives.

• Engage and facilitate coordination throughout the project design, installation, and commissioning phases.

• Lead and assess technical documentation, including site studies, reports, permits, contracts, drawings, models, bills of materials, and scopes of work.

• Develop specifications, contracts, and documentation control frameworks.

• Oversee workflows of third-party Owner’s Engineers.

• Manage technical requirements during project development and design, covering system design, regulatory compliance, permitting, and construction support.

• Coordinate with external engineering consultants, surveyors, specialized professionals, and suppliers.

• Evaluate conceptual ESS and solar designs, key components, equipment layouts, and single-line diagrams.

• Prepare contractor bid packages.

• Lead technical responsibilities for EPC agreements and potential project acquisition assessments.

• Direct and oversee site visits, testing, commissioning, and the start-up of constructed power plants.

• Contribute to proposals for BESS and solar projects.

• Manage battery and solar performance standards with O&M providers and optimizer partners.

• Collaborate with Asset Management to improve resource performance.

• Act as the primary contact for equipment vendors.

• Maintain ongoing enhancements in project designs, plans, processes, and product development.

• Lead and supervise testing, operational, and maintenance activities.

• Manage technical commitments under PPAs.

• Coordinate internal and external subject-matter experts to mitigate risks.

• Execute other assigned tasks and special projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Electrical Engineering.

• At least 7+ years of professional engineering experience in the utility-scale battery energy storage and solar sectors.

• Relevant experience in designing and developing utility-scale solar and battery storage power plants.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (or equivalent software).

• Familiarity with photovoltaic performance modeling tools.

• Experience with analysis tools for ESS operations.

• Knowledge of the National Electric Code, NFPA, and IEEE standards.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficient in Gantt charts (MS Project or equivalent).

• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Preferred experience managing projects from initial design through installation and execution.

• Authorization to work in the United States prior to joining; no sponsorship or assistance will be provided.

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

• 7+ years of direct experience in post-NTP execution of utility-scale solar or BESS projects, encompassing construction and commissioning.

• Experience reviewing IFC drawings and construction submittals.

• Experience working on projects >=50MW (solar) and >=50MW (BESS).
