This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.
• Assist Deciphex in the technical and scientific execution across BIGPICTURE and VICT3R.
• Collect, characterize, and analyze extensive preclinical and translational pathology datasets, which include whole-slide images, structured study data, annotations, and metadata.
• Contribute to the development of the VICT3R whole-slide imaging data model, metadata schemas, annotation standards, controlled terminology, and linkages to SEND domains.
• Analyze control datasets through descriptive and statistical methods, which encompass trend analysis, confounder detection, and batch effect identification.
• Facilitate interoperability between Patholytix and BIGPICTURE infrastructure by managing data mappings, requirements, specifications, and performing gateway testing.
• Create and uphold reproducible data-processing pipelines, quality control routines, and validation workflows.
• Assist in evaluating downstream pathology AI models through performance characterization, failure analysis, and evidence compilation.
• Aid in the onboarding process of non-clinical whole-slide images and metadata, including preparation, validation, transfer, and troubleshooting.
• Generate technical analyses, documentation, data deliverables, and progress reports in alignment with consortium milestones.
• Collaborate with pathologists, AI, software, product, and project teams to transform requirements into reliable datasets and analytical outputs.
• Implement data quality, traceability, GDPR, and GLP-compliant handling practices.
• A graduate degree in data science, bioinformatics, computational biology, biomedical science, biostatistics, statistics, computer science, or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Expertise in statistical computing and data manipulation utilizing one or more relevant programming languages and tools.
• Experience in applying data science or machine learning techniques to biomedical imaging, life sciences, or other intricate scientific datasets.
• Proficiency in analyzing and evaluating machine learning model outputs, including performance characterization, error analysis, and result interpretation in scientific or biomedical contexts.
• Background in curating, integrating, quality-controlling, and documenting datasets along with associated structured metadata.
• Strong foundation in applied statistics, covering exploratory analysis, experimental design, confounder and batch effect identification, and the selection of significant performance indicators.
• Capability to convert scientific and project requirements into precisely defined datasets, analytical workflows, quality control checks, and clear evidence-based outcomes.
• Experience in developing reproducible analytical workflows using version control, testing, environment and configuration management, data provenance, and technical documentation.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Aptitude for producing clear technical documentation and conveying data issues to both specialized and general stakeholders.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary and multi-organization teams while balancing competing scientific and delivery priorities.
• Knowledge of preclinical toxicology study design, treatment and control groups, endpoints, and histopathology workflows.
• Familiarity with non-clinical data standards and regulated research settings, including SEND/CDISC terminology, GLP principles, or regulatory-grade whole-slide image management.
• Understanding of whole-slide imaging, digital pathology platforms, image formats, and image-data management.
• Previous involvement in EU-funded consortia or other multi-organization scientific collaborations.
• Awareness of biomedical data governance, encompassing data integrity, traceability, responsible data handling, and GDPR principles.
• Capability to read and interpret scientific publications, technical standards, data specifications, and pertinent regulatory guidance.
